St. Stephen Feast Day Luncheon 2024

We will hold our St. Stephen's Day parish luncheon on Sunday, August 24, 2025 in our parish hall.

* As we have already announced, our St. Stephen's Day parish had to be postponed from August 17 to the 24th, to enable more people to join us. So next Sunday (Aug. 17) Mass will begin at the usual time of 10:30, and then at 11:00 on the 24th. The time of the luncheon itself will of course remain unchanged at 1:00 p.m. Tickets can be ordered from Cecilia Lamperth at 905-639-2403 and Zsofia Szoke at zsizso14@gmail.com. Adult tickets are $40, students $25 and children $10. Tickets can be purchased after Mass at the entrance to the vestibule. Let's come together and celebrate St. Stephen as our first king, our first saint and the namesake of our parish! We appreciate your understanding. We are happy to welcome everyone to this festive event.

On the feast of our King Saint Stephen, the question is not what would have happened without him, but what will happen if we throw this legacy away. May the Church, led by the Holy Spirit, keep all nations together on the way of Christ, because this is the only guarantee for the future of the Hungarian nation.

King St. Stephen, pray for us!

*

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SUNDAY MASS TIME FOR SUNDAY, AUGUST 24 WILL CHANGE TO 11AM ON THIS DAY ONLY.

Everybody is welcome!

75th Anniversary of the Blessing of our Church (April 14, 2024)

We celebrated the 75th anniversary of the blessing of our church. We welcomed Bishop Wayne Lobsinger, the auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Hamilton, who celebrated the anniversary of this joyful and historic event. After Mass, the bishop met with some of our members.

We were joined as well by Gábor Markocsány, Consul at the Hungarian Consulate in Toronto.

The program featured actor Csaba Marosán (member of the Hungarian Theater of Kolozsvar) who gave an amazing performance, including the origins of expressions, the hidden meaning of folk songs, and several songs from modern performances.

The well-known local flutist Mate Szigeti performed three pieces with hungarian themes.

We enjoyed an amazing hungarian dance.

2021 Papal Honours - Congratulations Martin Seregelyes

* On the afternoon of November 21, 2021, the feast day of Christ the King, Cardinal Lacroix (the Primate of Canada) and Bishop Crosby presented the very well-deserved papal award, the Benemerenti Medal, to Martin Seregelyes in an uplifting ceremony in the Basilica of Christ the King. Our congratulations to Marci! May God’s blessings continue to accompany him so that we may enjoy his friendship and loving presence in St. Stephen Parish for a long time to come. The papal award sheds a positive light on our parish as well.
